Air Touches Everything
About Us

Mission: To increase positive environmental behaviors among students, parents, and educators in the Victoria area by serving as a community resource for information and amenities.

The Blue Sky Initiative is a clean air initiative created to address Texas air quality issues specific to the Victoria area. The Blue Sky Initiative is a no-idling program that creates no-idle zones in areas where vehicles will be waiting for more than 1 minute.

History: The Blue Sky Initiative was implemented by the City of Victoria Environmental Services Department in the Fall of 2007 from grant funds provided Coleto Creek International Power, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and in-kind support from the City of Victoria.  By the end of 2009, all VISD elementary schools became Blue Sky schools.  Businesses began jumping on board in 2008.

Sustainability: The Blue Sky Initiative is funded annually by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality through the City of Victoria's Environmental Services Department.
